Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. It is referred to as the gentleman’s game. But somehow cricket is not very popular in Germany and no longer many understand about it. Although now there are many clubs in Germany and things are steadily looking better. However, at the beginning of 2000, there were not many cricket clubs and players involved in this sport. Germany has a robust economic system and a leader in technology. People from all over the world come here to discover opportunities. And they all brought something with them. We from Southeast Asia introduced cricket to Germany.
Mr. Nadeem Abbasi(co-founding member of GSCC Bonn) is from Pakistan and came to Germany with his family. In the beginning, there were not many people from Southeast Asia. With time the number grew and in their free time, some of them began to play cricket. In the beginning, it used to be simply a hobby. In 2009, some of them came up with the idea of founding a club. So Mr. Nadeem Abbasi and some buddies established the Golden Star cricket club. With the passages of time, many have left the club and many new ones have joined. But Nadeem Abbasi is nonetheless with the club and leading it from the front.
GSCC‘s principal mission is to promote cricket in Germany. Germany is already a leading country in many sports. And we desire to see Germany as one of the exceptional cricket teams in the world. To do that, we want to promote cricket amongst youngsters and carry this sport to the school level. It takes a lot of time and dedication. And we are prepared to do it.
